Account & Profile

  • •Email address (used for authentication via one-time passcode)

  • •Display name (entered during onboarding)

  • •Food allergy information (e.g., nuts, dairy, gluten, shellfish)

  • •Profile image (optional)

App Content & Activity

  • •Recipes you create or save, including titles, ingredients, instructions, and nutritional data

  • •Meal plans and weekly schedule assignments

  • •Grocery list items and pantry inventory

  • •Recipe folders and organization

Progress & Gamification

  • •XP (experience points) earned from cooking activity

  • •Cooking streaks and streak history

  • •Skill tree progression across cooking categories

AI Chat (Toui)

  • •Messages sent to and received from our AI chef assistant

  • •Daily usage counts to enforce usage limits

Technical & Session Data

  • •Session tokens and expiration dates

  • •IP address and device user agent (collected by our authentication system, Better Auth, for session security)

  • •Email verification codes (temporary, expiring OTPs)

Subscription Data

  • •Pro subscription status (active/inactive)

  • •Purchase-related identifiers managed by RevenueCat

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to operate ChefQuest:

  • •Authenticating your account and maintaining secure sessions

  • •Personalizing recipe suggestions, your home feed, and cooking journey based on your dietary preferences and allergies

  • •Filtering out recipes that conflict with your allergies or dietary choices

  • •Powering the Toui AI chef assistant with context about your saved recipes and meal plans

  • •Tracking your skill progression, XP, and cooking streaks

  • •Generating recipe images using AI (via OpenAI DALL-E)

  • •Processing and validating in-app subscriptions

  • •Remembering your app settings across sessions

We do not use your data for advertising or sell your data to third parties.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on our secure backend servers. This includes your account information, recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, and activity data. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data in transit and at rest.

  • •Data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted)

  • •Authentication is handled via secure, short-lived OTP codes — no passwords are stored

  • •Sessions use secure, expiring tokens

  • •Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems

4. Third-Party Services

ChefQuest uses the following third-party services:

RevenueCat — Manages in-app subscription purchases on iOS and Android. RevenueCat may collect purchase-related identifiers to process and validate subscriptions. See revenuecat.com/privacy for their privacy policy.

OpenAI — Used to generate recipe images (DALL-E 3). Recipe content may be sent to OpenAI to produce food photography-style images. See openai.com/privacy for their privacy policy.

Better Auth — Handles our authentication system, including session management and email OTP delivery.

We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media platforms, or behavioral analytics SDKs.

5. AI Chat (Toui)

When you use the Toui AI chef assistant, your messages along with context from your saved recipes and meal plans are sent to our backend server and used to generate responses. Usage is limited to 10 messages per day for free users. We do not use your chat messages to train AI models.

6. Children's Privacy

ChefQuest is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will promptly address it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • •Request correction of inaccurate data

  • •Request deletion of your account and associated data

  • •Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
